Vietnam Airlines resumes flights to Indonesia


JAKARTA, July 3 (Vietnam News/ANN): National carrier Vietnam Airlines resumed service between Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta, Indonesia on July 2 after months of closure due to Covid-19.

The first flight in months, coded VN631, took off from HCM City for Jakarta around 9:40 a.m., with 144 passengers on board; and the return flight took off from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta at 1:50 p.m. carrying 171 passengers.

There are now regular return trips on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

It is another international destination to which Vietnam Airlines has restarted the air route after Vietnam reopened its border and lifted travel restrictions.

Nguyen Minh Toan, head of Vietnam Airline’s representative office in Indonesia, said there is a strong demand for travel between Vietnam and Indonesia, and the resumption of an air link between the two countries, with three flights a week, marked a debut for the carrier before it. can recover the flight frequency to seven per week as before the pandemic.
