Vietnam Travel Requirements: Entry Rules for Indians


Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Vietnam, the country has proactively monitored the situation and taken precautionary measures to curb the spread of the virus. However, Vietnam has only recently started to welcome international tourists as well as returning Vietnamese as long as they meet a certain set of requirements.

Here’s what you need to know

All passengers traveling to Vietnam should take note of the following:.

  1. All travelers must present a certificate of full vaccination against COVID-19, with the last dose at least 14 days before the date of travel.
  2. All travelers must have a negative RT-PCR test result dated within 72 hours of travel.
  3. All passengers traveling to Vietnam must have medical or travel insurance that covers treatment for COVID-19, with a minimum coverage of $20,000.
  4. All reservations must be made with a travel agency approved package travel program.
  5. Children under 2 years of age are not required to present an RT-PCR test result, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Health requirements for traveling to Vietnam

  1. Fully vaccinated travelers traveling alone will only need three days of self-isolation in their own accommodation. A PCR test should be performed on day 1 and day 3.
  2. Travelers without proof of full vaccination will be required to self-isolate for 7 days. A PCR test should be administered on day 1 and day 7.

Visas for Vietnam

  1. Vietnam offers an electronic visa, valid for up to 30 days for a single entry. Travelers can apply here.
  2. The electronic visa can be used by 80 countries

Flights to Vietnam

Flights to Vietnam are now available from most major Indian cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, etc. Airlines such as Singapore Airlines, THAI Smile, Malaysia Airlines, Air India, etc. are operational.
